Event Cinema Workshop Las Vegas WPPI

If you are headed to Las Vegas for WPPI (2/21/12) you’ll want to check out the Event Cinema Workshop run by ViewFinders Joe Simon and Kevin Shahinian. There will be two sessions at each, with a limit of 15 attendees per session.

The two part cinematography workshop will be held at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV, to coincide with WPPI. This exclusive full day course includes timeless storytelling techniques, in-depth HDSLR filmmaking workflows, and essentials for photographers and filmmakers of all skills  looking to take their cinematography skills to the next level.

Schedule:
Morning Session: Tuesday, February 21,2012 (9AM-1PM) 

-Fundamentals of cinematic storytelling and an introduction to narrative theory and the basics of screenplay structure for creating powerful short films and captivating same-day-edits.
-Cinematography tutorials covering techniques to capture stunning moving images under various conditions through an analysis of lens choice, lighting and camera placement essential for cinematographers.
-Ideal settings to capture refined moving images on your HDSLR; what it all means and how to develop an ideal recipe of settings to achieve the specific look and feel for any desired mood or effect.
-All the essential cinematography gear and production workflows, with tutorials on adding movement using sliders and stabilizers for HDSLRs. Developing a sound philosophy to justify adding movement dramatically in your films.

1PM-2PM Lunch Break

Afternoon Session: Tuesday, February 21, 2012 (2PM-6PM)
-An exploration of cinematography skills essential to creating stunning love stories, engagement sessions and concept films for weddings.
-Fundamentals of motion picture directing; master various directing techniques to illicit convincing performances from non-actors and learn to lead a small crew.
-Audio for cinematographers – recorders, microphones, and techniques to record pristine audio in the chaos of a live event.
-Post-production workflows for HDSLR video on various editing programs, from rough cut through delivery.
-An analysis of the short form edit – break down a short form edit from beginning to end and understand the fundamentals behind non-linear editing, color grading, sound design and music theory.
-Becoming an original – tying everything together to hone your sensibilities and develop your original voice as an artist.
