Focal lengths – Video Tutorial
on Dec 28 in Photography by MegHere we have our first in the series of photography video tutorials from LensProToGo. In this episode we are talking about lenses with different focal lengths in a beauty shot scenario. We will be covering many various topics in the future. We hope you find this information useful. Please let us know what you think in the comments section at the bottom of the post.
And here is a composite of all the shots side by side

This is awesome, thanks for putting this together and I’m looking forward to more.
Great job Paul,
I’ve been looking into doing webinars this Winter.
Don’t forget, let’s get together on that off-camera workshop for the Spring.
Best,
Bob
Very cool video, Paul. It’s nice to finally put a face with the voice :). Would it be possible to post the one composite image where you show the results from the different focal lengths. That would make a great learning tool.
Nice work Tony! Very cool to see it all come together. Paul you may have a future in voice-over work if those who lens rental thing doesn’t work out.
Great looking video Paul!
Nicely done…but dog portraits are great w/ a wide angle lens :-)
Hi Paul,
Very nice. I wouldn’t have thought to use such a long lens for portraits. Maybe 85mm or 105mm on my D50.
Sorry, I can’t resist. The shadow from Amanda’s nose on her top lip is a bit distracting.
Paul, Tony
great job with the video tutorial. Keep’em coming, great stuff! Hope all is well.
I really enjoyed this. I also liked the bubble comments on the screen.
This is so helpful to see the photos side by side.
Thanks. This is something I am really trying to work on. Great to see the side by side images. It did seem like the photog was still really close to the subject with the 135 mm focal length. Isn't the distance between subject just as important as the focal length? What would the results been like with 105 mm and a little more working distance?
Great video,Thank you and looking forward to more great tutorials
For some reason I thought the 50mm looked a lot better than the 70mm. 135mm and 200mm are the best. I think her face looks a little too compressed in the 300mm.
Saw this on Reddit!

I always thought that telephoto lenses would suck at portraits, then again I never imagined that I’d have such good lenses to work with – thank’s for the lesson! I will see what I can do with a crummy telephoto lense ;)
